About Me

Chances are, if you’ve made it to this page you already know at least a little bit about me.

I’m Kit. I’m a cook, a wife, a writer and a mom. Professionally, I’ve helped some of the world’s largest technology companies market the products and services they produce. My career has taken me to some pretty fascinating places all over the globe, but I’m always happy to come home to my daughters, husband, and my kitchen. Because, after all, there’s no place like home.

The Stout Sprouts and I take full advantage of living in New Jersey, the lovely Garden State. Our backyard garden is in a perpetual state of disarray, but from the moment we built the first planter box our family has delighted in getting our hands dirty and learning a little bit more about growing our own fruits and vegetables. When we want to see it done right we can take advantage of any one of a number of local farms and farm stands, or visit the local farmer’s market. Mercer County has a lot to offer.

When we’re not thinking about food — what to cook next, new regional cuisines to try, and where to get the ingredients with which we cook — we’re exploring other amazing aspects of living in this area of the United States. We could fill an entire year checking out local artists (I absolutely must plug The Masterwork Chorus and Orchestra, one of New Jersey’s finest performing arts organizations!) museums, parks, playgrounds, and other community-based events. We may dream of visiting, eating in, and learning about other countries, but our roots are firmly planted here at home.

If you are cooking some of the recipes from this blog I’d love to hear from you. How are the dishes turning out? Are your kids eating them, or have you made adjustments of your own? What is it about the recipes that makes you want to cook them? What are you listening to when you’re cooking? Leave me some comments – I’m curious!

I hope that, like me, you’re able to get your whole family into the kitchen every once in a while to enjoy good company and good food, together. Happy cooking!

– Kit
